Weight Loss Care Plan

Being overweight or obese poses much greater risk for health problems than being normal weight or underweight.

Being obese is not about what you weigh, it's about having too much fat in your body. There are many reasons for obesity. While its cause is certainly linked to an imbalance of calories consumed versus calories burned through physical activity, it also can be affected by:

  • Family medical history and genes
  • Lifestyle habits & eating behavior
  • Work related stress & trauma

Obesity can be managed through a structured diet and nutrition plan. The plan needs to be customized for you, taking into consideration your medical history, lifestyle and food preferences. Our principal diet consultant, Sushma has over 8 years experience, working with Dr. Vinod Dhurandhar.

Your customized weight loss care plan will be charted, taking into consideration various factors including:

Calorific value of your daily diet plan: No weight loss effort can work long-term without a close and constant look at the calories you consume each day. Your goal should be to establish an optimum balance between calories in and calories out (burned through physical activity).

Behavior modification: Moving to small and frequent meals. Concentrate on eating, the right way. Keeping away from problem foods and planning an exercise routine.

Proteins: The proteins you eat help in rejuvenating your muscles from the daily wear and tear of the body. It is important to get enough protein and exercise to keep—and even grow—muscle strength and mass.

Fiber: Foods rich in fiber such as whole fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains tend to offer plenty of vitamins and minerals without plenty of calories. High-fiber foods satisfy hunger and keep you feeling full longer than processed foods. They are tasty, nutritious "filler foods."

Eating a variety of foods: A healthy weight loss plan includes a variety of foods from all the food groups: fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy and meat and beans, plus a moderate amount of healthy fats.

Supplements: Most healthy people can get all the nutrients they need from food. Supplements advertised for weight loss benefits and building muscle mass may actually be harmful to your health.
